ARISE REU Paid Summer Internship
This REU program aims to safeguard human and physical infrastructure against disasters by using community-centered methods and local knowledge. Participants will investigate disaster planning, rural/urban infrastructure challenges, and the resilience of water, energy, and transportation systems.
Supported by the Kansas NSF EPSCoR initiative ARISE, participants receive a $7,000 stipend, summer housing, a campus meal plan, and a small travel stipend.
Travel is expected within Kansas for professional development and team-building activities. Participants are paired with professors at Kansas State University, the University of Kansas, or Wichita State University. For 10 weeks in the summer, participants will attend a 3-day orientation, conduct research with a faculty mentor, attend workshops, take field trips, and present a research poster and a 3-minute talk.
