Entry-level Designer/Draftsman

Job Purpose: An entry-level Designer/Draftsman is responsible for creating detailed SolidWorks CAD drawings for sheet metal, machined, and plastic components.  Will require interpreting multi-level bills of materials for developed products and assisting with releasing products to manufacturing.  The role involves collaboration in a cross-functional team, working closely with Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Marketing to ensure successful outcomes. Attention to detail, self-direction, and resourcefulness are essential. 

This is a full-time, on-site temporary role (3-6 months).  This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

 

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assist in tasks related to an existing product and transfer that product to our GCX Franklin facility
  • Work with project managers and other departments to facilitate priorities of work.
  • Create and update detailed CAD drawings: Produce or revise detailed SolidWorks CAD drawings for the product, including parts, assemblies, and installation instructions.
  • Create and update detailed specifications for miscellaneous components such as screws, nuts, and springs.
  • Assist in the structuring of multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs): Assist in organizing and managing the multi-level BOMs for the product, which is a list of the components, sub-assemblies, intermediate assemblies, and raw materials needed to manufacture it.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with the following teams to ensure collective success and alignment: Project Managers, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Marketing
  • Release and control documentation: Help manage the release and revision control of product documentation.
  • Engineering analyses include strength, stiffness, balance, stability, and material selection.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

Requirements: 

  • Mechanical aptitude and experience. 
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD (sheet metal and solids modules), and mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge in design for various production processes is a plus.  Examples include sheet metal stamping & forming, machining, extruding, powder coating, and plating (injection molding, die-casting)
  • Knowledge ERP systems are a plus
  • Attention to detail

  • Hourly Rate:   $27.00 - $29.00
  • Duration: Minimum of 3 to 6 months, with potential for extension or permanent hire based on performance and business needs
