Student Communications Intern
Student employee will gain real-world experience by assisting with writing and editing extension materials, graphic design, website and social media content management, photography, videography, video editing, and posting. Student will also help with event logistics (e.g., for field days), including database and record management and preparation of participant materials. Student will design and develop educational Extension and outreach tools to communicate scientific research results to the broader community. Tasks can be catered to existing skills and interests with supported opportunities for further skill development.
Events and projects are focused on supporting the “From the Ground Up” project – a climate-innovative agriculture project in Ohio and Missouri.
Applicants should have strong communication, organizational, and computer skills, be self-motivated and enthusiastic, and demonstrate good people skills.
Essential Duties:
- Assist with writing and editing extension materials, graphic design, website and social media content management, photography, videography, video editing and posting. (60%)
- Help with event logistics (e.g., for field days) including database and record management and preparation of participant materials. (10%)
- Design and develop educational Extension and outreach tools to communicate scientific research results to the broader community. (30%)
Preferred work hours are 16 per week through the fall and spring semesters, but may be negotiable.
Interested students should be 1) currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, 2) just finishing their undergraduate degree this semester, or 3) planning on starting graduate school next semester.
Applicants must be able to work independently and as a team. They should be professionally motivated to help farmers make research-based management decisions and through sharing research results. Students must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable personal vehicle and must be willing to travel around the state. All mileage will be reimbursed at the standard University rate ($0.70/mile).
