Innovation in Care, Technology, and Policy

Organization: FieldWorker.ai 

Location: Princeton, New Jersey
Duration: 12–24 months
Compensation: $85,000–$95,000 annually 

 Eligibility: U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Employment-Authorized (EAD with pending I-485). OPT candidates are not eligible.

About the Fellowship

FieldWorker is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to advance applied research at the intersection of technology, health, and social innovation. The Fellow will work closely with FieldWorker’s leadership, technology team, and social-care experts to conduct research that drives innovation in caregiver support, case management, and policy design for community well-being.

The position offers a unique opportunity to bridge academic research with real-world implementation, helping advance New Jersey’s innovation ecosystem.

Potential Research Areas

We welcome applicants from both technical and social disciplines. Areas of focus may include:

  • Technology & AI: Predictive analytics, care planning algorithms, workflow automation, or data-driven insights for disability and aging services

     
  • Data Science & Public Health: Using social and behavioral data to identify trends and improve care outcomes

     
  • Social Work & Human Services: Studying workforce well-being, burnout prevention, and digital adoption in service delivery

     
  • Health or Public Policy: Evaluating technology’s impact on care coordination, family engagement, and health equity

     
  • Human-Centered Design: Designing accessible and inclusive tools for caregivers, families, and individuals receiving care

     

Responsibilities

  • Conduct applied research aligned with FieldWorker’s innovation goals

     
  • Collaborate with technical and social-impact teams to design studies, analyze outcomes, and produce actionable insights

     
  • Develop models or frameworks that demonstrate the role of technology in advancing person-centered care

     
  • Contribute to reports, publications, and conference presentations

     
  • Support FieldWorker’s commercialization and community engagement efforts by translating findings into practice

     

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. awarded within the past 12 months, or to be defended within 3 months, in one of the following or related areas:

    • Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or Information Systems

       
    • Public Health, Health Policy, or Social Work

       
    • Human-Centered Design, Psychology, or Behavioral Sciences

       
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with an interest in real-world application

     
  • Ability to work collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams

     
  • Demonstrated interest in improving human services and care delivery through innovation

     

Mentorship and Environment

The Fellow will work under the mentorship of senior members of FieldWorker’s leadership team, including technologists, researchers, and social care professionals. The position provides a collaborative environment with opportunities to publish, innovate, and engage with external partners in academia, policy, and human services.
