Summer Camp Photographer
Lions Camp Tatiyee provides special needs individuals with life-changing summer camp experiences promoting their emotional health, independence, self-esteem, and confidence, entirely free of charge.
We are seeking fun, exciting, and responsible summer camp counselors! Your role will include creating the magic of camp, fostering a sense of belonging, and ensuring the comfort and safety of campers. You'll have a chance to assist campers in arts and crafts, go-kart racing, archery, tie dye, and so much more!
Camp consists of a training week, and then 8 one-week sessions according to the ages and disabilities of the communities we serve. Sessions last 6 days and 5 nights, providing campers with a life-changing summer camp experience, allowing them to partake in adventure programming, educational curriculum, and empowerment activities.
LCT serves campers aged 7+ who live with learning, developmental, physical, hearing, and/or vision-related disabilities, as well as those with autism. The camp serves statewide in Arizona, with most coming from the Phoenix metro area. Campers are demographically diverse, and serve on a first-come come first-served basis.

Position Description:
You will live in a dorm with five co-counselors. As a counselor, you will have the most constant contact with our campers. For the camper, you are the most familiar source of guidance, support, comfort, care, and fun. You must be prepared for a huge commitment of your time and patience. Along with the rest of the team, the counselor is responsible not only for his or her assigned group of campers but for the entire camper population.
***The job includes room & board for the duration of the summer session.***
Specific Job Responsibilities:
Campers
- Aiding and/or supervising campers in self-care skills as needed (dressing, brushing teeth, restroom utilization, showering, dining, etc.).
- Thoroughly filling out paperwork in regard to campers in your care (body checks, incident reports, etc.). Notifying the nurse & lead of altered physical or mental abnormalities.
- Engaging in programs with enthusiasm and assisting in the preparation & execution of both daytime and nighttime programs as needed. (Enthusiasm, prop building, minor performing.)
- Executing your assigned Rest Hour and Sleep Out duties, full assistance and cooperation in dorm clean up, shower time, and full camp clean up.
Training Week and Pre-week Preparations
- Full participation in Training Week. This includes, but is not limited to, classes, projects, planning, team builders, scheduled activities, and pre-camp preparations.
- Reviewing the needs and backgrounds of your assigned campers before their arrival for each session.
Staff Meetings
- Sunday Meetings: prepare to take notes and listen attentively to leadership & returners sharing pertinent information on specific camper's needs.
- Night Program Meetings: preparation and engagement in developing weekly night programs for your committee.
- Dorm Meetings: Utilize your insight gained throughout each week on campers and full camp operations, pose areas for improvement (with possible solutions), as well as identifying strengths through the lens of Tatiyee’s mission.
- Friday Meetings: Practice active listening in the summarization of the week, followed by participation in weekly team-building activities.
