Competition Math Instructor/Coach

Jubilate Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing STEM education opportunities to students in our local South Bay, is seeking an experienced and passionate Competitive Math Coach & Instructor to improve our curriculum, lead courses, and mentor our team to greater success in local, regional, and national tournaments.

Position: Competition Math Team Coach/Instructor
We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and experienced math educator to join our team and prepare students in grades 4–12 for success in competitive mathematics, while also helping them build strong problem-solving foundations that support their academic growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach and mentor students in grades 4–12, with a focus on developing problem-solving skills and preparing them for high-level math competitions.
  • Improve and deliver current engaging lessons for competition-level math (AMC 8/10/12, Math Olympiad, and related contests).
  • Guide students through problem sets, strategies, and contest-style challenges.
  • Update current lesson plans that balance theory, practice, and test-taking strategies.
  • Foster a team culture of perseverance, collaboration, and critical thinking.
  • Track student progress and provide constructive feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated competitive math experience, with placement or participation in contests such as AMC 8/10/12, Math Olympiad, AIME, or similar.
  • Prior teaching or coaching experience with middle and high school students (grades 4–12).
  • Strong knowledge of competition problem types, including number theory, combinatorics, geometry, and algebra.
  • Ability to develop structured lesson plans tailored for both individuals and groups.
  • Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for inspiring students.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience coaching math teams or running competition clubs.
  • Familiarity with additional contests (e.g., ARML, MathCounts, Purple Comet, etc.).
  • A track record of helping students qualify for advanced rounds (AIME, USAMO, etc.).
