CARB is seeking driven, detail-oriented chemists and scientists to join the Special Analysis Section (SAS), a cutting-edge laboratory that plays a vital role in protecting California’s air. SAS delivers critical analytical support for CARB’s Consumer Products and Composite Wood programs by testing products for compliance with VOC limits, toxic air contaminant restrictions, greenhouse gas standards, and formaldehyde emissions. In this fast-paced, production-focused environment, staff tackle a wide range of responsibilities—from performing complex chemical analyses to developing innovative methods and advancing analytical techniques. With access to state-of-the-art instrumentation such as Ion Chromatography, HPLC-MS/MS, Karl Fischer titration, and advanced Gas Chromatography systems, SAS scientists are at the forefront of research and enforcement efforts that safeguard public health and the environment.
