This position is open only to Colorado state residents.

The Multi Media Specialist position supports the Colorado Department of Corrections Training Academy, which develops and provides Basic, In-Service and Specialized training courses at the Training Academy and throughout the Department to between 1,000-1,200 newly hired employees and over 6,500 existing employees annually for the purpose of developing a highly professional correctional work force by following American Correctional Association (ACA) Standards.

We are recruiting for an innovative individual to join our team as a Multi-Media Specialist. The individual selected for this position will support the CTA by developing training presentations, instructional materials and web based training

Primary Duties of the position include; but are not limited to:

  • Develops audio visual presentations and video production utilizing video editing skills to clip, encode, and publish platform-specific video content;
  • Routinely manages DOC's Learning Management Systems, processes, and procedures;
  • Addresses a variety of adult learning theories through the development of creative and interactive audio visual presentations expected to enhance current, revised, or new Training Academy lesson plans;
  • Researches current market trends and provides recommendations;
  • Coordinates with curriculum instruction manager to ensure lesson plans are in appropriate computer based format and completes electronic distribution;
  • Works closely with curriculum development to link outcome based learning objectives with audio/visual enhancements;
  • Set up user and administrator certification and courseware hosting;
  • Add/Edit entities (users) in the LMS system;
  • Set up and work with assignment profiles and course deployments in specified training periods;
  • Troubleshoot content integration issues and provide resolution;
  • Manages all audio visual assets to use in Academy classroom environments, facilitates equipment repairs and check out procedures in accordance with ACA Standards;
  • Accompanies staff as needed to provide technical assistance and support for program/training presentations;
  • Develops and produces Web Based Training;
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software issues throughout the Training Academy;
  • Updates DOC Training Academy Web pages and DOC Intranet pages;
  • Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop and produce multimedia products for training purposes;
  • Some in state travel will be required;
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy and quality in all published content;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  
 
Education and Experience:   Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in mass communication, education media, mass media production, radio production, or television production or closely related field. (Unofficial college transcripts must be uploaded with this application to be considered. Transcripts must include your name, college name, degree and date conferred in order to receive credit). - AND -One (1) year of *professional experience creating full cycle e-learning, online, web based or virtual learning courses that includes working within a Learning Management System (LMS) and coordinating with subject matter experts along with performing media production activities in the audio visual field which included assisting in the control, arrangement and selection of the sequence and content of action, dialog, sound and visual effects and/or music used to create an effective audio visual production.

- OR -

Experience: Five (5) years of professional experience* creating full cycle e-learning, online, web based or virtual learning courses that includes working within a Learning Management System (LMS) and coordinating with subject matter experts along with performing media production activities in the audio visual field which included assisting in the control, arrangement and selection of the sequence and content of action, dialog, sound and visual effects and/or music used to create an effective audio visual production. (Any work experience less than full time will be prorated)

*Professional experience is defined as work that involves exercising discretion, analytical skill, judgment, and personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, and sharing an organized body of knowledge that characteristically is uniquely acquired through an intense education or training regimen at a recognized college or university; equivalent to the curriculum requirements for a bachelor's or higher degree with major study in or pertinent to the specialized field; and continuously studied to explore, extend, and use additional discoveries, interpretations, and application and to improve data, materials, equipment, applications and methods.


Substitutions:  Experience in criminal justice or specific to the position which provided the same kind, amount and level of knowledge acquired in the required education, may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor's degree. 


A master's or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in the above mentioned fields may be substituted for the bachelor's degree and one year of general experience.

A bachelor degree (or higher) that is not in a closely related field of study, may substitute up to 60 semester hours of core coursework on a year for year basis.
