History Teacher

Report: Dean of Academics

 Oldfields School welcomes the opportunity to serve girls with promise in grades 8 through 12 on a bucolic campus which is located in northern Baltimore County, Maryland just 35 minutes from Baltimore, 1 ½ hours from Washington, D.C., and 2 hours from Philadelphia. We have an opening in our History Department for a teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This person will teach World Geography, World History I, and World History II, and electives at multiple grade levels. In addition to serving in an academic capacity, this teacher will participate in our co- and extracurricular programming as well as contribute to our residential life programming. This position may include campus housing.

 

Candidates who have experience serving a Student Life Office by assisting with the coordination of co- and extra-curricular as well as residential life programming are especially invited to apply for this position.

 

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Teach five classes per semester. (This includes teaching core and elective courses.) 
  • Maintain regular communication about student academic progress with students, parents, advisors, the History Department Chair, and Dean of Academics.
  • Effectively use the School’s LMS. 
  • Effectively use Google Suite Apps.
  • Adhere to and assist in enforcing all School policies and procedures.
  • Promote the Mission of the School.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Academics.

 

Other Required Duties:

  • Serve as an advisor for 3-5 students. 
  • Contribute to our residential life programming. (This position may include campus housing for a full-time person.)
  • Serve on weekend and weekday duty teams.
  • Participate in our extracurricular programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School. 

 

Qualifications:

  • B.A. in is preferred.
  • 1-2 years teaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the areas of socio-emotional learning and/or neuroscience with an emphasis on adolescent girl development preferred.
