Job Overview:
This paid internship is an excellent opportunity for highly motivated and dynamic students interested in public service and event management. As part of the Communications & Community Outreach team you will gain hands-on experience working in a professional office environment, assisting with communications, social media outreach, and event coordination. The internship will provide valuable skills and insight into how local government interacts with the public through outreach and communication initiatives.
Essential Functions:

• Event Setup, Logistics, and Breakdown: Assist with the planning and coordination of outreach events, including setting up, managing event logistics, and breaking down post-event.
• Social Media Content Creation and Event Coverage: Help create engaging social media content to promote the Clerk’s Office events and initiatives. Provide event coverage on social media platforms, including capturing and posting photos and videos.
• Outreach Preparation and Administrative Support: Support the Communications & Community Outreach Team by preparing materials for outreach initiatives, preparing reports, and providing administrative assistance as needed.
• Collaborate with Team Members: Work alongside team members on various projects and provide assistance with special events, campaigns, and community engagement initiatives.
• Community Engagement: Represent the Clerk’s Office at outreach events and assist in providing information to the public about Clerk services and community initiatives.
• Perform other functions, duties and conduct special projects and/or research as assigned.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications Required:
• Currently enrolled in a degree program in Communications, Public Relations, Event Management, and Marketing or related field.
• Must be able to commit to 20-30 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
• Must be able to work on-site and at event locations, depending on the needs of the office and events.
• Must be able to work some weekends and evenings as needed for events.
• Experience in social media practice.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for event travel when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience or strong interest in social media, public relations, event planning, or community outreach is preferred. Social media samples will be collected prior to the interview.
Technical Requirements:
• Proficiency working with a personal computer in Windows environment and utilizing word processing (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook) and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
• Ability to:
o Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
o Exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
o Confidently operate cameras and mobile devices for live coverage during events.
o Work independently and as part of a team, with a positive and proactive attitude.
o Use standard office equipment (computer, fax, telephone, copier, etc.)
o Travel to all work locations including outlying branches.

• Constant: sitting, speaking, hearing, typing, writing, detailed inspection and reading.
• Frequent: standing, walking and repetitive motions.
