Surveyor (National Core Indicators) Internship

The Utah Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS), Continuous Quality Improvement Department, is looking for a dedicated person to fill a paid internship for a surveyor to help conduct annual National Core Indicator (NCI) In-Person/virtual surveys and to assist with research data and analysis. Your duties in this position primarily involve scheduling and conducting interviews with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their guardians/family members. This position may be eligible for telework options. This position will be for 9 months.

 

This internship job is designed to assist students in the completion of their degree by fulfilling working requirements. This includes, but is not limited to bachelors and masters level students from an accredited institution of higher education, and also includes assisting students working towards a certification that requires hands-on, community experience.

 

**This positions require traveling throughout the State of Utah.  Mileage reimbursement will be offered for travel expenses.**

Responsibilities

 

Conducts in-person / virtual surveys 

Complete the instrument-specific training

Contact individuals, guardians, and/or family members to explain what the survey is about and answer questions

Arrive at interviews on time and prepared

Conduct the interview in a professional manner

Ensure that all data is accurately documented and saved in the online data management system.

Performs research activities by utilizing computer software to obtain data. 

Reviewing and summarizing data using data analysis tools.

 

Qualifications

 

Complete/pass a background check

Strong communication skills

Reliable transportation

Reliable internet

Perform work using the Internet and other computer-related sources

Compose and produce reports, documents and related material

Some experience with creating and administering surveys, using data analysis tools and software, preferred but not required

Experience creating and working on research projects, preferred but not required

Good Listener

Self-motivated with the ability to work a flexible schedule

 

Supplemental Information

 

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
