Industrial Design Intern

Location: Based in our Irvine, California office, 3-4 days/week in person

Type: Internship 3 months, Full-time

Compensation: $30/hr

 

About the Role

We’re seeking a curious, passionate, experienced and hands-on Industrial Design Intern to join our creative team. You will be involved across the entire design process—from ideation to visualization and prototyping. This internship offers an opportunity to gain real-world experience working on forward-thinking products in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.  Interns will be expected to manage their own time and be drivers of their respective projects. All work will be highly confidential in nature and may not be shared or distributed outside of the studio without prior written approval.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to ideation, concept sketching, and storyboarding for design projects.
  • Conceptual design skills (comfortable with uncertainty, lateral approach, value analysis, intuitive, brainstorming).
  • Participate in design research, trend analysis, and user-centered exploration.
  • CAD literacy (2D drawing, 3D solid modelling, graphic design software, image manipulation).
  • Create high-quality renderings and visual presentations.
  • Assist with prototyping (sketch models, form studies, RP) and model-making, both digital and physical.
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, and marketing teams throughout the product development cycle.
  • Support studio operations, including internal presentations or visual content preparation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an Industrial Design program.
  • Strong sketching and visualization skills with a good eye for form and detail.
  • Experience in consumer electronics and lifestyle product design.
  • A curious, open-minded and humble attitude.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Passion for excellence and collaboration.
  • Innovative: You develop new approaches to complex problems.
  • Proficient in 3D modeling tools (e.g., Rhino, SolidWorks).
  • Skilled in rendering software (e.g., KeyShot, Blender, V-Ray).
  • Experienced using Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with Figma is a plus.
  • Understanding of design for manufacturing principles.
  • A portfolio showcasing a strong industrial design process and compelling final outputs.
  • Fluent in English

Nice to Have

  • Motion/video, photography, or other creative side skills.
  • Familiarity with AI-enhanced design tools.
  • Mandarin is a plus.
