Case Western Reserve University – Cleveland, OH

Dr. Angela Dixon leads a multidisciplinary research program at Case Western Reserve University focused on modeling neurological diseases, replicating nervous system architectures, and creating innovative biosensors inspired by peripheral and central nervous system physiology. A major focus of the lab is to use insect and mammalian models to investigate olfactory sensory neurobiology and engineer advanced biohybrid olfactory sensing systems.

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researcher or research scientist to join this collaborative team and contribute to olfaction-related research and sensor development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform insect electrophysiology experiments and analyze bioelectrical signals.
  • Design and optimize insect-based olfactory sensors and biohybrid interfaces.
  • Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
  • Mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD (or equivalent) in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, physiology, computer science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in sensor development, electrophysiology, and signal analysis.
  • Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with insect handling and olfactory neurobiology.
  • Familiarity with microscopy, microfabrication, or biohybrid system design.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
