What I liked

I have worked with Chipotle since my senior year in high school. They allow me flexibility to be able to transfer between locations, so that I can work whether at home or at school. As a student who is fully funding their own tuition, outside of scholarships, grants and loans, it is crucial for me to work to pay monthly tuition. Being able to transfer between locations means I am not worried about finding a job every season I leave or return to school. Chipotle also offers some tuition reimbursement, which has been very useful for paying off some loans and purchasing books for school.

What I wish was different

Every Chipotle's culture is extremely dependent on the management. I have worked at locations where the environment is extremely friendly and conducive to positive worker and customer experiences. I have also found some stores where the environment was so detrimental that it negatively impacted my mental health. I believe this goes for any business, but with Chipotle I have seen such a dichotomy that I encourage everyone to transfer around until they find the perfect fit.

Advice

Find the best fit with management and location. Be your own advocate for your benefits, such as sick time and tuition reimbursement.

What I liked

Extremely friendly coworkers. Fast-paced environment so I was never bored. Learned new positions over the summer such as Grill and Cash Register.

What I wish was different

I wish training new employees was more focused on, because newer employees were very slow and had so many questions post-training. Understandable though, because we were very understaffed

What I liked

The store is dead in the summer. There is never a line to the door so I am able to keep the restaurant stocked and clean more efficiently. The store also goes from closing at 11 to closing at 10.

What I wish was different

I would not have changed anything about working there this past summer.

Advice

If you want a fun job and a great place to be for a summer, getting a summer job in Athens and living here is an experience you won't regret.
